Mark Lurie Mark Lurie, principal real estate agent at Tierras de Baja, comes from a long line of real estate developers and operators. Raised in Santa Barbara, California, Mark's family purchased and operated for more than a decade Santa Barbara's famed El Encanto Hotel. Mark began his own career in construction at age 19, later becoming a General Contractor, and ultimately launching a successful design and construction development company which he ran for 25 years. His projects have ranged from high-end homes in Rancho Santa Fe, Del Mar, Montecito and Hope Ranch, California—to homeless shelters, and the co-founding of "Homes for People", a non-profit organization that built more than 120 homes from 1980 to 1998 and earned Mark a Merit Award from the Governor of California. Mark has worked in England, Italy and Spain, mastering period-building and restoration techniques (as well as honing his skills as a stone sculptor). Mark's journeys into Mexico began more than 40 years ago, and his knowledge and understanding of the Baja real estate market is expansive. As an interesting aside, Mark bought Jack Smith's house, of God and Mr. Gomez fame, with his young family in 1987, and it remains in the family to this date. Mark has lived full time in Baja since 1999. He is fluent in English, Spanish and Italian.

Guillermo Willie Cochran
Guillermo "Willie" Cochran
blushes at the moniker, but he is indeed Tierra de Baja's "ace in the hole". Willie has lived and worked in Baja for nearly 70 years—early as a fisherman and businessman, harvesting shellfish, pebbles and "products of the sea", building wharves, establishing lobster and abalone packaging plants, and gaining unparalleled familiarity—kilometer-by-kilometer, decade-by-decade—with Baja's intricate and expansive coasts and landholders. Later, Willie directed his attentions to property development, conducting title searches and participating in the planning and development of various projects throughout Baja. Willie's unique knowledge of Baja's lands and coastline, and his profound relationships with significant landholders throughout coastal Baja, are simply invaluable. Indeed, the relationships he has cultivated with some of our sellers span over a half century.
